Humanity wins over tyranny

It was 1993, 31st December. Still, I remember all the details of the evening of that day. Mood of jubilation was prevalent in the air of Kolkata. It was then “Calcutta”, not Kolkata of today. The shiver of cold can be felt on those days. I was not alone. One of my judicious friends, Debopam, aka, Joy was with me. In fact, I had the intention of staying at Joy’s uncle’s house that night. We went to Nandan to see Schindler’s List by Stphen Spielberg. The show was at evening. Both of us belonged to suburbs. Both of us had an indomitable wish to see the lighted, decorated Park Street, which was decked beautifully to celebrate the New Year. Even we wished to walk along Park Street to steep ourselves in the festivity. All of these acts are planned. We had to execute the plans after seeing the movie. Yet it never happened. After coming out of the theatre, everything changed. My life has been changed since.
